Just a few bits of info on LZ1 compression from my tests. Hope they help:
1. Turn on LZ1 compression in Database Properties tab. Not need to compact the db.
2. LZ1 compression only works with new documents/attachments. It does not convert existing documents/attachments.
2. File attachments in LZ1 format sent to a db which does not have LZ1 compression enabled will be recompressed automatically in the target db to the Huffman format.
3. File attachments in Huffman format sent to a db which does have LZ1 compression enabled will NOT be recompressed to LZ1 format.
4. Resending an existing document with a file attachment saved in Huffman format to a db with LZ1 enabled will store the attachment in the target db with the Huffman format instead of the LZ1 format (so don't bother resending documents hoping they will be recompressed to LZ1).
4. Resending an existing document with a file attachment saved in LZ1 format to a db with LZ1 disabled will store the attachment in the target db with the Huffman format.
5. Turning off LZ1 compression in a db does not recompress existing documents/attachments. They stay in the LZ1 format.
